Partnerships

Hydro Tasmania works with a range of organisations and groups to create benefits for the environment and communities in which we operate.

  • We signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Cradle to Coast Authority in 2009 to formalise our continuing commitment to work together across north-western Tasmania to share knowledge and skills on projects for the sustainable management of land and water. Find out more.
  • An MOU with NRM North signed in 2009 formalised our collaborative relationship to work along with the wider northern Tasmania community on sustainable land and water management projects.Find out more.
  • We work with Inland Fisheries Service (Tasmania) to manage lake levels for fishing and threatened species, provide flows for trout breeding channels, overcome barriers to migratory fish and eels, and consult on the impacts of reservoir draw-downs.
  • We have a tri-partisan agreement with the Tasmanian Department of Primary Industry and Water and the Tasmanian Farmers and Graziers Association containing a framework for resolving irrigation allocation issues.
  • We formed a partnership with Greening Australia Tasmania in July 2006, contributing $175,000 over three years to Greening Australia's Derwent River Recovery Program and creating a framework for co-operative actions between the two organisations.
  • We participate in a Recreational Management Steering Committee to integrate management across government agencies, such as Parks and Wildlife Service, Inland Fisheries Service, Marine and Safety Tasmania, Tourism Tasmania and municipal councils.
  • We work with recreational and interest groups, such as Angling Alliance Tasmania and the Tasmanian Farmers and Graziers Association, to meet the needs of all stakeholders for water and land management.
